Back in November I spoke of my love for Holly's DIY book paper covered tin with a dainty teaspoon handle. I decided to give it a go myself (minus the book paper) and gave it to my Mum with her Christmas presents hiding inside.

My DIY doesn't have a patch on Holly's version, but maybe I'll get brave enough to use the book paper next time.

Everything Else: On The 1st

On the 1st of January I was told by my partner of 9 years & 10 months that he no longer wants to be with me, which hurt especially after the tough year of 2011 with my Dad passing away. Now another person will be walking out of my life after such a long period of time.

I've recieved some strong amount of support, although I'm a little disappointed that some of the people whom I've met through my now ex-partner haven't connected with me to see how I am.

Thing's are tricky, we have a mortgage on our own home, so there will be a lot to sort out.

I should hopefully be moving out on the 1st of February into a tiny new build house. So tiny I can't even take my king-size bed or fit a wardrobe in there, but there are other small upstairs rooms - which I will turn into a girly dressing room (yay!).

I will miss my large bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe, plus my new bathroom with white subway tiles that my Dad did for me. But I must admit, I'm a little excited to get in the new place and girly it up!

2011: My Year In Review

Ten days have passed since the new year was rung in, I can't say I'm glad to see the back of 2011, maybe that's due to February rolling in which marks one year since my Dad passed away.

2011 was a terrible year for me, amoungst quitting my job to stay at home due to unfair treatment, and I'm still battling personal problems.

Blogging feels like a release for me to be creative (and I am definitely a creative person), I've had so many ups and downs, and it's hard to motivate myself (in many ways, not just blogging). I even closed down an old blog of mine as I went deeper into a ''down period''.

Nothing is perfect in my life, but I'd just like to share my better parts of 2011.

The new year rang in a new hairstyle, and that was when I opted to have a fringe (bangs) for the first time since I left school.

We kicked off February with Hayley's 28th birthday.

Having to deal with my Dad's death on February 10th was the hardest thing ever. On March 25th, it would've been his 66th birthday.

Dean and I took our bikes out for a ride, then later went to my Dad's favourite Chinese restaurant to celebrate for him.

April saw me have a slight obsession with Tom Binns jewelry, so off I went to recreate the look.

Sweet tooth?

Admiring my favourite flowers in our garden.

Trying out my new sewing machine by making clutch bags.

Jumping on the neon multi coloured nail polish trend.

Reconnected with old school friends.

A tattoo on my wrist in rememberance of my Dad, by Ashleigh (pictured above).

Playing around with polymer clay for the first time.

...And loving these orange flowers.

Treated myself to an Alexander McQueen inspired scarf, and became obsessed with spikes + studs.

Made a poor attampt at trying to use a curling wand for the first time - I'm really not a hair person!

Rekindled with my half brother & sister, and attended her wedding.

Then we had to cut the wedding night short to head into town for Catherine's pre-wedding bar hopping session!

Visited Alton Towers theme park at the beginning of July.

Charlotte's hen party.

Stefan & Catherine's Wedding.

Lee & Charlotte's Wedding.

Sarah's charity fundraising garden party, followed by a trip to a pub my Mum & Dad used to take me to when I was a kid.

August and September rolled in my bad period, it also rang in my 25th birthday on August 11th - my first birthday without my Dad.

Went to the yearly local fair.

We didn't do anything special for Haloween, but I did glitter a bat!

My Dad was a huge Frank Sinatra fan (I too love his music), Moon River now resides on my side.

Had my make up professionally applied for the first time, then headed off out into the night with my friend Ashleigh.

Attended Rihanna's ''Loud'' tour.

My Momma kindly added to my Deborah Lippmann (slowly) growing collection.

Had a day out with my Mum and visited The Wheatsheaf pub that my Dad laid the block paving to (He was a self employed builder), and carved my initials into one of the blocks.

And, hung my Minnie Mouse ornament that used to hang on my Dad's christmas tree when I was a kid...

Review: Asos Faux Fur Vest

I was a little disappointed when I opened my Asos package containing this faux fur vest/gilet. Although the fur felt soft and the quality of the vest was decent, I couldn't help feel that the colour somehow resembled a skunk as the Asos picture looked a lot lighter than it does in person. The size also runs slightly large, so unfortunately this was going to be a no keeper.

Holly never ceases to amaze me. Not only does she refinish the most gorgeous furniture, but she has brilliant craft ideas. Take this tin for instance, it was once an old metal container that Holly decided to give another life by adding old book sheets & an Anthropologie teaspoon handle.

Saturday was one of those days.

After three long weeks of squeezing up together on a two seater, we removed the glass from our window to get our three seater sofa into the lounge, and when re-fitting, it cracked.

Later in the night, we had an intruder find their way around the back of our house, through two doors and into our kitchen to steal my favourite Zara handbag and both our wallets, all whilst we were watching tv in the next room.

Along with my bag and wallet, they also made away with all the contents inside of it...brand new make up and nail polish that was only purchased the day before. Plus my driving glasses, and my house keys. Attached to my house keys were my Dad's house keys which were sentimental to me, as he passed away in February 2011.

You can never be too careful, please lock your doors.

Everything Else: Friday Happenings

Yesterday my Mum & I went into town to collect my Deborah Lippmann nail polish and Urban Decay eyeliner I ordered from House of Fraser department store, but got distracted by the Bare Minerals counter which soon had me testing out eyeshadows. I picked out three neutral/brown eyeshadows and had the makeup consultant apply them for me, I also got a little brave and had a red lipgloss applied too.

My very kind Mum decided to treat me, and purchased two of the lighter shade eyeshadows and the lipgloss.

My original plans for friday night was to meet with my friend to watch Twilight: Breaking Dawn, but we heard the ques were bad so opted for dinner and drinks instead.

To complete my new look that the Bare Minerals consultant applied for me, I added black eyeliner and lightly patted Urban Decay's glitter eyeliner all over my lid for extra sparkle.

I grew up listening to my Dad playing Frank Sinatra, he was a huge fan. And I'm thankful that he & I shared a love of Frank's music.

I have many favourite song's that remind me of Dad. One of them is Moon River, especially the quote ''Two drifters off to see the world, there's such a lot of world to see''. Back in the day, I was a huge Britney Spears fan. It was so bad that I even had the tiniest of magazine cut out's of her stuck on my wall.

On the 3rd of June 2009 I travelled down to London to meet up with Stacey of Five Minute Style, to watch Britney Spears' Circus tour at the 02 arena. It was the first time I've ever been to a Britney concert, and I loved it.

On Sunday the 30th of October, I'll be heading to Birmingham to watch the Femme Fatale tour - can't wait!

I already received the two pairs of leggings, but made another order for the boots and t-shirt. I'm sceptical on the boots because my legs are really slim, and judging by the picture's online, the leg shaft looks quite wide. We shall see!

If anyone is interested in buying the leggings, I think they're really good value for money; the material isn't thin at all. But be warned size wise - they seemed a bit tight when pulling them up over the hips, but once they were on, they felt fine.

For years I've wanted to ~~burn~~ get rid of our buttercream sofa's, they match absolutely nothing and look terrible against all the wall paint colours I tested against.
I've seen some gorgeous tan leather sofa's online recently but unfortunately they're not within our budget. Then I missed a bid for a used tan suite on Ebay which went pretty cheap *kicking myself*.
What started my craze for tan leather was Karen's taste in decor. I do love bright colours but the neutral scheme Karen's used throughout her home, speaks to me. I especially like the white slipcovered sofa against the tan leather pouffe and wingback chair.
